GMP began it journey of excellence by developing and manufacturing marine Cutlass bearings for the Indian navy in 1979. Since then we have grown to become one the world’s leading manufacturer and exporter of Water Lubricated Rubber Bearings / Cutlass Rubber Bearings.

With our expertise in Tribology of rubber and metal, we now design and develop water lubricated / cutlass bearings for special applications and highly demanding environments like deep-sea submersibles, shaft bearings for new generation electric propulsion systems and special industrial applications like bearings for ceramic shaft sleeves, etc.

With continuing research and advancements in product technology, our bearings now exceed US Navy specifications in critical parameters like Tensile strength, elongation and bond strength.

GMP bearings are made to the highest quality standards, in materials, workmanship and dimensional accuracy (Clearance and tolerance is as per U.S. Navy Standard, BuShips plan number 810-1385664 for marine bearings) and as per client specifications for industrial bearings. For over 35 years, our bearings have proved its mettle by operating in the toughest industrial environments and marine conditions ranging from the arctic to the tropics, in shallow waters as well as high seas.

Our range of cutlass bearings includes metal shell and nonmetal shell (Hard Composite) with or without flange, inner rubber lining in Nitrile, Neoprene, etc. Our products find usage in vertical pumps and marine industry for propeller shaft stern tubes and rudder bearings. Our bearings cover a wide range of shaft diameters from 22mm to 400mm. (Bespoke sizes can also be made on request).

All GMP bearings are scientifically designed and engineered by experts in tribology; (the science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion for friction, lubrication and wear), manufactured using premium grade material, and skilled workmanship. We conduct physical & chemical test of rubber and metals before manufacturing and dimensional accuracy check of every finished bearing before dispatch. Testing and quality control is conducted at our lab equipped for tensile testing, elongation testing, abrasion testing, friction testing, coefficient of thermal expansion and swell testing.

GMP Non-Metal (Composite) Sleeve Water Lubricated Bearings with Nitrile or Neoprene lining for Marine Stern Tubes and Rudder shafts. GMP Phenolic Bearings are made of proprietary composite materials developed by our in house R&D team. They are 60% lighter, Impact resistant, environmentally safe, Non Hazardous and Economical. GMP Phenolic bearings can match the temperature range of other rigid alternate bearing materials to function at temperatures from -4°C to 70°C High temperature resistance and negligible swelling characteristics of GMP composite rubber bearings enable them to operate at a closer running clearance than any other bearing material. Abrasion measured according to DIN 53516 - RT(mm3 loss) : 30-80 & 150°C(mm3 loss) : 50-80. GMP Phenolic bearings are widely exported to Europe, Middle East and Australia.

GMP Cutlass Non Metallic Sleeve Bearings offer all the benefits of our brass shelled bearings with added benefit of being lightweight (1/3 the weight of brass bearings) and no galvanic corrosion due to its anti-electrolytic properties.

GMP non-metal shell Cutlass Rubber bearings are made of proprietary composite materials developed by our in house R&D team. The material is resistant to oil, grease and chemicals and match the temperature range of metal bearing materials.

High temperature resistance and negligible swelling characteristics of GMP non-metal shell Cutlass Rubber bearings enable them to operate at a closer running clearance than other bearing materials.

The composite outer shell is kept flexible for better grip when pressed into the housing. Our shell material also has bearing properties, so even if the soft lining is worn out the shaft will not be damaged.
